Combine real-time feeds from
Bloomberg, Reuters and
Sonic MQ
with your own data sources
Panopticon Explorer lets managers and traders interactively drill down in their portfolios and visualize portfolio effects, in real time, simply by integrating their existing Bloomberg, Reuters, or Sonic MQ feeds with Panopticon’s award-winning Explorer software.
Explorer uses the same StreamCube™ OLAP data model that we offer in our Enterprise and Developer SDK products. The StreamCube™ supports the visualization of streaming real-time feeds and can connect to virtually any datasource.
Easy to install and easy to use
Simply drop your portfolio data into Explorer and then choose one of our live data connectors that will link your portfolio directly to live data like Reuters, Bloomberg or Sonic MQ – you'll see real-time updates of your portfolio information within Explorer visualizations. Our users love how easy it is to use Explorer and to configure it based on their own particular needs and preferences. Once you truly see your data in our interactive visualizations, you’ll never want to go back to looking at static reports or reports that have scheduled updates. There is no substitute for being able to interactively slice and dice your data and quickly spot hidden patterns, opportunities, problems and trends, in streaming REAL TIME!
See all the details and the big picture at the same time with interactive Treemaps
Treemaps are one of our most useful data visualization techniques. They provide an efficient window into underlying real-time business data. You can spot anomalies, hidden patterns and outliers in seconds when looking at our treemap. When looking at a treemap, you will be able to point out important values in a matter of seconds. However, what most people are unaware of is that your brain processes the information before your mind becomes aware of it. For the brain, it is not a question of seconds, but milliseconds. Scientists call this pre-attentive processing. It is defined as involuntary processing of visual information without focused attention in a very short time — as fast as 200 milliseconds.
This automated and effortless perception of information is what our visualization tools are all about. A picture really does say more than a thousand words.
Barseries visualization lets you easily spot trends
Barseries is a new visualization available with our Explorer product. It helps you analyze time series data in an intuitive graphical display. With Barseries, you can visualize several parallel time series simultaneously and makes it easy to see trends in complex financial data.
Barseries can display historical data as well as information that is constantly being updated in real time. You can plot historical data and predict future trends in seconds. Barseries supports the same kind of interactive features you are accustomed to in Treemaps; you can slice and dice, drill down to view details, and compare several small or large time segments by creating new breakdowns, on the fly.
You can think of our Barseries visualization as a graphic pivot table — the individual bars use color and size instead of numbers communicate values.

Dynamic calculations using live data – It’s all about the deltas!
Explorer supports dynamic calculations using combinations of live data from Bloomberg, Reuters or Sonic MQ as well as your analytics and historical data. For example, you can join data in an excel spreadsheet with live real-time data from Bloomberg and program calculations using Excel-like formulas. Then you can see and interactively analyze the results using our Visual Business Intelligence Tools.
The software handles multiple data sources too; you aren’t limited to a single spreadsheet or database. It all adds up to a very powerful new capability for Panopticon Explorer. Never before have you been able to visualize and analyze the ‘deltas’ of your portfolio on an intraday basis.
Personalize your own Visual Business Intelligence system
Panopticon Explorer is an interactive visual data analysis application that lets you explore and visually analyze huge amounts of data with simple drag and drop operations. Start with the big picture and explore interesting aspects of your data in further detail. Interactively filter and get rid of irrelevant data. Navigate your data through simple mouse operations similar to how you surf the internet. Save your favorite views and share your findings with your colleagues and customers.
Virtually any data source —
including OLAP cubes!
Panopticon's StreamCube™ data model lets you connect to real-time streaming feeds as well as databases like DB2, Oracle, Sybase, MS Access, SQL Server, and Excel. It also handles connections to OLAP servers and RSS feeds. The integration of relational data and even OLAP data with streaming real-time data is a first in the industry!
Requirements
Panopticon Explorer runs under Windows 2000, XP and Vista. Explorer must be installed on the same PC you are using as your Bloomberg Terminal in order to connect to Bloomberg feeds.
