Panopticon Denies Involvement in Microsoft Dispute with Google and DoubleClick

– Microsoft’s use of “Panopticon” name in its statements to US Senate
is simple misunderstanding –

Stockholm, Sweden, October 4, 2007 – Panopticon Software, a leading provider of visual business intelligence software, today denied that it is in any way involved in discussions with Double-Click or Google relating to Google’s pending offer to acquire Double-Click.

Microsoft has used the “Panopticon” name in its recent statements to the US Senate’s Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights. Microsoft is seeking to block approval for the acquisition. There were numerous reports in the IT trade press beginning on September 27, 2007 containing the headline, “Microsoft Tells Congress That Google-DoubleClick Would Create Panopticon Monopoly”.

Robert Ekström, CEO at Panopticon Software, said: “This is a pure misunderstanding. The widespread use of the Panopticon name in these recent press reports could lead one to assume that our company is involved in discussions with Google and DoubleClick. This is not the case at the present time.”
