The Ministry developed an interactive dashboard that allows people throughout Russia to examine automobile inventories and select cars for purchase under a special incentive program.
Stockholm, Sweden, June 9, 2010 – Panopticon Software, the leading provider of data visualization software for monitoring and fast analysis of real-time data, today announced that the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation has implemented its software as part of a special program to promote automobile sales. The Ministry selected the Panopticon EX enterprise application and deployed a custom dashboard as part of a website that allows consumers throughout the country to analyze car inventories and car recycling incentives.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation performs policy-making and regulatory functions for civil and defense industries, including industrial promotions, aviation technology development, technical standardization, and metrology. It is also involved in managing federal regulation of foreign trade activities.
The program began in March 2010 and is scheduled to end in November. The Ministry is reporting excellent results so far. During the first month of the program, the program helped sell over 15,000 cars and issued over 50,000 certificates for car buy-backs, which is more than 25% of the total planned commitment to replace 200,000 old cars with newer, more efficient models. More than 800 dealers around the country are participating in the program.
All development and implementation work was completed by Invento, the Panopticon partner company in Russia.
Alexey Rakhmanov, Head of Automotive and Agriculture Machinery Department for the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said, "We designed the program to remove a lot of old, inefficient cars from the road and to help increase automobile sales. The website has been a major part of our outreach effort and has helped consumers learn about the program and better understand how they can benefit. It has been a great success for the country and for our Ministry. The Panopticon data visualization tool is integral to the website and allows customers to explore the market without help from Ministry personnel, which has helped us keep the costs of the program under control. Invento did a fantastic job with the implementation and we and our users are very happy with the results."
Eugene Kolesnikov, Managing Partner at Invento, stated, "The Ministry needed a website that ordinary consumers could use to do some fairly sophisticated analysis of the Russian automobile market, including the special incentives that were available for recycling old cars. We created a dashboard tool and integrated it into the Ministry's website. The whole project took less than 30 days and the Ministry is very happy with the usability of the completed system. They have had excellent feedback from the public as well."
Chris Elsmore, Senior Vice President of Partners & Channels for Panopticon, said, "Invento is one of our best partners. They have a great technical team who are able to take customer requirements and turn them into completed projects very quickly. They really understand how to make all the pieces fit together, including data warehouses and platforms, and they have become expert in developing creative and truly useful implementations of our data visualization tools."
